What Is Artful Spirit?

Artful Spirit is a venture by Sandy Morris.

Much of my work is influenced by the indigenous peoples of the Americas and Europe. I study the symbology of these peoples and incorporate these symbols with my own designs. These designs I paint onto my hand made drums and pottery. I also use symbolism to design jewelry from natural stone, silver and glass that represent properties that the wearer is desiring to achieve, such as healing or prosperity.

Once again we in the Inland Northwest area north of Spokane, Washington are reeling from another very stressful winter. Historically huge snowfall once again has us reeling. Spring is finally showing it's green face, but it is letting go with a struggle! It is still cold and windy and we are plodding through some of our days looking for a warm spell to go out and dig in the dirt!

This year I have shifted my focus in a way... I am still doing my art, and have had quite a few commissioned orders. I have found that doing custom work for my customers is by far the most rewarding way for me to be creative. The element of being able to intimately work with a person and provide a piece of art that speaks perfectly to them whether it is a drum, painting, or piece of jewelry is a great passion of mine. This is truly my gift to this life!

You may say, "I don't even know what kind of personal artwork I want!".  Rest assured that I have had a lot of experience with interviewing my customers and have a 100% positive record of making just what the customer wants!
